Brand Introduction:
Stones Throw Records, LLC (“Stones Throw Records”) is an American independent record label based in Los Angeles, California and is the owner of the copyrighted works asserted in this action.
Quasimoto is a fictional character (featured below in VA0002269138) and an artistic alter ego developed by Madlib, known as one of his most successful projects. Madlib created the character by manipulating and speeding up his own voice to produce a helium-like, cartoonish tone, allowing him to rap in a style and persona different from his own. Across his music projects, Quasimoto trades lines and spars with Madlib’s lower-pitched vocals, creating the feel of two personalities in conversation. Through his alter ego, Madlib pushes his humor, surrealism, and experimentation further than he typically would. Quasimoto’s debut album, The Unseen (2000), released on Stones Throw Records, cemented the character as a cult favorite and earned spots on numerous “best of” hip-hop and underground music lists.
