Plaintiff, Heatherlee Chan, is the owner of the Copyright Registration that protects the creative content of the Heatherlee Chan Work. Chan is a watercolor artist. Her paintings tell stories centered upon whimsey, romance, friendship, and nature. Chan’s childhood was spent with her nose in a book, adoring heroines with spirits. Because of that first love, she likes to paint pictures that tell a story. Chan’s work is available for purchase on her Etsy shop, as well as licensed for use on products across the marketplace including home goods, kitchen textiles, stationery, wall art, fabric, and greeting cards. Some of her clients include Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, HomeGoods, Kirkland’s, Lowe’s, The Container Store, and T.J. Maxx. She has also illustrated a watercolor coloring book by Klutz called Watercolor Crush.
