Plaintiff, JANNA SALAK, is the owner of the Copyright Registrations that protect the creative content of the Janna Salak Works. Plaintiff is an artist and surface pattern designer whose work is inspired by her lifelong love of animals, nature, and pretty things. Salak earned an Associate of Arts degree and a certificate in interior design before briefly pursuing a career in technology, eventually returning to her creative passions through art licensing and surface design. Case: 1:26-cv-06541 Document #: 1 Filed: 06/03/26 Page 3 of 8 PageID #:3 4 Plaintiff later founded Janna Salak Designs and began to license and sell her artwork through various online platforms such as Etsy, Spoonflower, Society6, Zazzle, Amazon, and Raspberry Creek Fabrics. Salak has expended substantial time, money, and other resources in developing, advertising, and otherwise promoting the Janna Salak Works. As a result, products associated with the Janna Salak Works are recognized and exclusively associated by consumers, the public, and the trade as products authorized by Plaintiff (the “Janna Salak Products”). https://www.spoonflower.com/profiles/jannasalak Plaintiff is the owner of the United States Copyright Registrations that cover the Janna Salak Works. The Registrations are valid, subsisting, and in full force and effect. True and correct copies of the registration certificates for the Janna Salak Works are attached hereto as Exhibit Case: 1:26-cv-06541 Document #: 1 Filed: 06/03/26 Page 4 of 8 PageID #:4 5 In an effort to illegally profit from the creative content of the Janna Salak Works, Defendants have created numerous Defendant Internet Stores and have designed them to appear to be selling authorized Janna Salak Products. Upon information and belief, Defendants facilitate sales by designing the Defendant Internet Stores so that they appear to unknowing consumers to be authorized online retailers, outlet stores, or wholesalers selling genuine Janna Salak Products. Plaintiff has invested substantial time, money, and effort in building up and developing consumer awareness, goodwill, and recognition in the Janna Salak Works. The success of the Janna Salak Works is due in large part to Plaintiff’s marketing, promotional, and distribution efforts. As a result of Plaintiff’s efforts, the quality of the Janna Salak Products, the promotional efforts for Plaintiff’s products and designs, press and media coverage, and social media coverage, members of the public have become familiar with the Janna Salak Works and associate them exclusively with Plaintiff. Plaintiff has made efforts to protect Plaintiff’s interests in and to the Janna Salak Works….
