She inherited the ownership of her husband’s artworks, and she manages his legacy and business affairs. Joe Velazquez was an oil painter whose work focuses primarily on the North American fur trade era encompassing the mountain men, voyageurs, and the northern Native American cultures. His fascination with the emergence of our nation led him to exploration of the many stories that occurred during this short but colorful time in history. He was diligent with the historical accuracy of the accouterments used in depicting the stories of this period in time while portraying the passion and tenacious spirits of the characters who travelled those trails. He began his artistic journey as a child, and his penchant for art was reinforced through high school as he was sought for his portrait drawings and for creating architectural delineations for local builders. He then studied art in college before launching his career as a full-time artist. His work has earned him numerous honors and recognitions throughout the years, and his paintings and sculptures are held in corporate and private collections throughout North America and Europe.
