Plaintiff is a French private family-owned company based in Paris, France, and is the manufacturer, distributor, and seller of high-quality diamond jewelry and jewelry accessories, including rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces which are designed as innovative and timeless jewelry for women in both fine and high jewelry segments (collectively the “MESSIKA Products”) under its trademarks. Founded by Valérie Messika, daughter of international diamond trader André Messika, the Company developed its flagship design, Move, in response to seeing demand for a stylish and understated line of contemporary women’s jewelry, resulting in the creation of a signature collection of high and fine women’s jewelry items made with three sliding brilliant cut diamonds. Since its launch in 2005, the company has expanded its offerings to include a full range of innovative and high-quality diamond jewelry designs, including rings to ear cuffs, marketed under the MESSIKA brand. Since founding her brand, Valérie has created more than 6,000 pieces of jewelry which have been worn by celebrities including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Sienna Miller, and Natalia Vodianova.
